Pilates is based around a series of movements developed by Joseph Pilates to keep prisoners of war fit in the second world war.
Today, these movements have been adapted for rehabilitation and fitness with a structure of progression. It can be used for general fitness or rehabilitation.
Physio led Pilates is Pilates taught by a Physiotherapist who has a qualification in Pilates.
This allows the exercises and movements to be tailored to a small group. For example, a lesson suitable for someone recovering from back pain or following a knee replacement.
In our day to day life we adopt postures and movement patterns that aren’t ideal. Pilates helps to restore balance and strength in normal movement pattern.
A Physiotherapist has the skills to assess a person’s limitations through movement and encourage them to target problem areas whilst promoting, strength, flexibility and balance.
" You will feel better in ten sessions, look better in twenty sessions, and have a completely new body in thirty sessions. "
